The 535,000 sf, 15 story structure set to serve the community starting in the Spring of 2022
Building Advantage’s April project spotlight is the St. Camillus Independent Living Residence in Wauwatosa.
Located across from the Milwaukee County Zoo, the new East Residence will offer 168 luxury apartments with large, open living spaces, floor to ceiling windows and breathtaking views. This project expands the independent living offerings at St. Camillus Life Plan Community which also includes assisted living, memory care and skilled nursing. Once complete, this project will serve the needs of the local and regional community, ensuring that residents, families and loved ones have security in their later years, right here at home.
Gilbane Building Company and the Milwaukee Building and Construction Trades were tasked with delivering communal spaces for residents to enjoy endless social opportunities. The East Residence’s first floor will feature an expansive Wellness Center, including a swimming pool, state of art fitness equipment, wellness education center and dedicated group exercise space. An innovative rooftop space includes pickleball courts, a putting green, fire pit and abundant gathering space. The East Residence’s spacious, open floor plan apartments also allow for socializing within resident’s homes.
“St. Camillus Life Plan Community has an exciting future”, says St. Camillus CEO, Kevin Schwab, “Partnering with Gilbane Building Company and HGA, our vision for a dynamic independent living complex focuses on the six dimensions of our Revitalize Wellness program; spirituality, community, physical, social, emotional and intellectual has become a reality. We are truly appreciative and grateful for all of the trades, subcontractors and everyone involved in this innovative project.”
With safety as a paramount, St. Camillus, and their project team at Gilbane turned to experienced and educated union-affiliated contractors and their tradespeople. Every crew member at St. Camillus has gone through a site-specific orientation prior to setting foot on the project and is also required to wear KASK hardhats as an increased safety measure.
“We are honored to be involved with this incredible addition to the St. Camillus Campus”, says John Gilroy, Area Manager at Gilbane Building Company, “The entire project team has done a remarkable job safely coordinating a major addition to the active campus and engaging the St. Camillus Community into the construction process through monthly in person progress meetings, virtual updates, site tours and interactive information sessions.
The success on this project is just one example of the many ways union construction delivers an ROI for project owners. And Building Advantage is proud to be telling your story, one of excellence and professionalism, that ensures safe, quality projects are delivered on time and on budget.
