Electricians

Electricians install, maintain, inspect and repair electrical fixtures, wiring systems and control equipment inside homes, businesses and industrial buildings. From reading blueprints, to connecting renewable energy sources, to planning the layout and installation of entire electrical systems and components, there is plenty of variety to keep electricians busy.

Application Requirements

  • 18 years old

  • Valid Drivers License

  • High School Graduate or GED. *High school seniors may apply but will not be placed until graduation.

  • Passing Aptitude Test

  • Completion of 2 full years of high school or post high school Math. One of the courses MUST be a full year of Algebra. Both courses require a minimum grade of “C” in each semester. Official transcripts are required.

Education and Training

  • 5-year apprentice program

  • 8,000 hours of on-the-job training

  • 900 classroom hours

How to Apply

Apprentices are selected based on a ranked list when requested by the electrical JATC, typically after everyone has tested. Generally, this happens between May and August. Your rank on the list is determined by the weighted total score of the selection procedures (Test, Personal Evaluation Form, and letters of recommendation).
